Help with NAS for streaming

I'm hoping to get a wireless NAS device for both backup and media storage with the intention of being able to stream it to the tv. I've used the xbox 360 to stream from a laptop before and found this to be quite good for what I wanted. So I'd want to be able to use this arrangement with a wireless NAS device unless there is an obviously better (and similarly priced) method of doing this. Any recommendations - either for wired NAS (which can be upgraded to wireless) or wireless NAS?

Do you really 'need' it to be wireless, or is it just the lack of wires that appeal.

I get much better perfomance with the 200Mb Develo homeplugs for streaming than I ever could with wireless, and its just as neat.

On the NAS side, I'd recommend a QNAP NAS, works 24/7, steams everything, and can download your torrents and nzbs in the background

I would echo Nimbus's comment - wireless will be a limitation and if at all possible I would suggest the Powerline adpater route (I use the Netgear 200Mbps devices and they're excellent).

I have a Thecus N5200Pro. I have 3 x 1.5TB drives in a RAID 5 that I use for back-ups and a 2 x 500GB drives in a RAID 0 (purely to eliminate delays) from which I stream music to my Logitech Squeezebox devices; I don't stream video. The Thecus has been ok though if I were buying now I'd be looking seriously at QNAP or Netgear.

Edited to Add: Be aware that multiple bay NAS i.e. those capable of taking multiple hard drives are no where near silent! I have mine hidden in the utility room connected via the Powerline adapter for this very reason.
