Hi Chaps,

My Iphone 3g contracts is up for re-newal.

However,
I am totally satisfied with the phone, and do not require the 3gS etc.

Just looking at the best deal for a Sim only package- looking at £20 with Voda, 600mins, 300 texts and 500mb of data (more than enough for me).

Some data allowance is required- unlimited would be nice but ok otherwise.

O2 deals a a bit poor however, some offer access to "The Cloud" which is handy working in London City.

Any deals, advice would be most welcomed.

I was in the same boat as you and went for 'simpicity for iPhone' tariff.

There are variants but I went for £25 a month with 600 mins and 1200 texts. Unlimited Data, and you keep visual voicemail.

Plus the best part is it's a 30 day rolling contract, ideal if your waiting to see what the next iphone will bring in the summer.

EDIT: looks as though if your willing to sign to a 12 month contract you can get 300 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited data, visual voicemail)

I have an O2 simplicity deal which seems pretty good, may change it to a 12 month one for better value but last week they didn't seem to be offering unlimited data as I currently have.

Virgin have some good deals with unlimited calls and texts and good numbers of minutes at the moment.

Keep the good offers coming in chaps- it will help my negociations when I get through to diconnection services. If they do call my bluff, I will just go to Voda by the looks of the internet deals.

With these great sim deals is there really any need to go contract unless you cannot afford/don't want to buy a phone?

Out of interest - why not stay on this when the next phone comes out?

As far as I know you can't buy an iPhone SIM free, and a Pay as you go iPhone is about £500!!.

Cheers... was just trying to understand the reasons not to go contract. I'm out of contract with vodafone right now and just waiting for the new iPhone to see whether I go that way or the HTC Legend. However even on contract VF do not offer unlimited internet.

You could do in theory, although you would have to buy the 'new iphone' sim free - assuming it will be available sim free, it will also be ludicrously expensive.
