It's kind of like saying "if you use the internet then you're at risk"

not being funny but would you take internet security advice from a government rather than specialist companies, i wouldn't. i know its the germs not ours, but even so, none of them have a great rep on looking after peoples data smile

Translation: Due to a recent update to Firefox that has closed our normal access to public browsing histories we (the Government) are no longer able to track your internet usage and log every naughty word typed about Winky Chairman Brown. Therefore we have ordered Mozilla to rectify this error immediately under pain of Mandy. Please use IE8 instead as that is better for us you.

- you have to visit a particular website

- there aren't many known instances of infection

Apparently.

I used to love fire-fox and undated to the latest version, but for some reason it became unstable and starting going funny, even after a couple of re-installs.

Now use chrome and never looked back..

Yeah, but it doesn't take much to use compromised websites as a driveby. Botnets are not just compromised home PCs

Chrome does seem nice and fast, but then so does Firefox? Most of the issues with Firefox tend to be dodgy plugins, I'm only running ABP, Noscript and Foxytunes, and it is fine. I have 8 tabs open, 3 of them PDF's and I'm using a grand total of 180Mb.

firefox has a habit over time of taking up all the resource ram, possible why the system becomes a bit unstable...

I can't understand why people have these issues- my netbook with its atom chip and 1gb ram is fine.

But actually came on to say- just popped up on my browser that the updated version is out of beta & available to download.

Tried chrome today... Won't be using it. It seems jittery, and a little bit lacking in grace opening a website. I'm sticking with FF :P
