Poxy computers! why is it everytime I turn this stupid thing on, it never behaves the same way with any consistancy. Im forever downloading all the MS security updates, and I still get troulbe. (Moan Over)

Problem now is 1)To close a window takes upto a minute before closing. 2) IE8 keeps telling me Not responding" then computer freezes. the only way to sort it is to turn the computer off. Anybody got any ideas? cheer's.

Which Processor?

How much memory (RAM)?

How big a hard drive? With how much free space?

Which OS?

Have you tried using CCleaner? or a defrag? A little bit of housekeeping can work wonders.

ETA : Obviously use care for the above two processes! Any sensitive data should be backed up beforehand.

Have you tried clearing the cache for IE? Try clearing out the "prefetch" directory as well under windows.

Uninstall any software that you don't use, etc..

What version of Windows?

My Mrs has Windows 7 64bit and a problem with the Flash player kept crashing IE (and other browsers). There is a way to fix it, but I'll only bother going through if that's actually the problem!

Okay, I'll help you sort this out. smile

First thing's first: Have you got an up to date backup of all your data (documents, pictures, music etc.)? Your answer to this question will determine my next reply...
