I'm currently reinstalling xp from scratch on my laptop and would like to merge the partitions on the hard disc into one. The current partitions (on a 40gb drive) are:

2.93gb
16.97gb
17.35gb

If I use Disc Management in XP then I can delete the partition, but it still remains as unallocated space.

Help!

Delete them all whilst in the XP setup just prior to the format, rather than from within XP

It will become 'unallocated space', you then need to create a partition and format it - obviously you will lose everything on all the partitions.

This can all be done in the xp set up wizard (blue screen) before installation process begins.

ETA: Boot off the xp disk, delete all partitions, recreate as one, format, install on selected drive - job done)
