Help! Outlook Express problem
Discussion
If I send an email with an attachment (like a photo) it says at the end that there is an error but no error shows in the details box. It doesn't show as sent but puts the email in the outbox to resend. My friend rang me to say he had received it 20 times! It still doesn't show as sent. I've tried reinstalling Outllok 8 since it seems one can't install Outlook express as a stand alone programme but that hasn't solved the problem. Any ideas, you gifted ones?

Do you have a large number of mails in each folder (inbox, sent mail, deleted etc.)?
The reason I ask is that Outlook Express sometimes gets a bit confused when the database file sizes get too big.
There should be an option under menu items at the top of the screen to compress the databases (File....folder....compact all folders). Give this a try. If it doesn't help, it also won't do any harm.

As an aside if you ever upgrade to Windows 7 or vista, Outlook express does not work on them. So eventually you will need to choose a new email client

Compact the folders as suggested http://www.almersoft.com/products/outlook-express-...
I can send any email and it registers in my sent box - as long as there is no attachment. Then it shows an error message - but nothing in the box underneath to explain the error - and keeps sending it ad infinitum. It is sent, but I had no way of knowing since it doesn't show in the sent box. Ah, well, move on to Thunderbird if OE won't work with the next upgrade which I guess I'll buy later this year. I've stuck with Windows XP since the reports on Vista were, to put it mildly, not brilliant.

You have no option of using OE with Win 7 so you will be stuck with Thunderbird or a Windows Messenger based email client, personally I don't like the latter so stick with TB which isn't far from OE in looks and use but is now sooooo easy to set up.
