As the title says, can I loade it onto a notebook or something similar instead of having MS?

I dont see much on the net other than this:

which suggests yes, but what are the pit falls and is it legal?

Hmmm

http://www.espressoreport.com/83/dell-inspiron-152...

I basically want to build a dual boot Windows/OS X system so that I can easily flick across to the software I need for programming but when not using it I can have the Mac...

Cant be arsed with Parallels anymore and then having all my software crammed into the Mac as its forever running out of space.

Plus this will be the OH's Laptop and she doesnt like OS X...

Technically - yes, if the drivers are available (i.e. if the hardware is the same as a Macbook) which they will be for some but not all laptops.

Legally - no, the software licence is tied to the Apply hardware.

Indeed.. I've been tempted to give it a go, but never got around to it. Those are cheap too..

I have OS X on my Dell Mini 10v - I only use it occasionally, but it works 100%. Was fairly simple to install too. I use it at my parent's house if I haven't brought my MacBook Pro.
