Hi I've been running AVG for a while and recently had the pop up appear about updating it. having downloaded the file I can't get it to install because there are remnants of my old Avast! antivirus on my system.
If I try to uninstall the program, I get a text box which says 'Avast! A setiface error has occurred: 536870929 Try to reinstall or contact support, please.

The program was uninstalled using the avast uninstaller, so does anyone know how I can sort this problem out?

Don't be in too much of a hurry to install AVG version 9

Do a google search on AVG vers 9 problems and then you'll understand why. I had no end of problems with it blocking me from websites, I uninstalled it using the add/remove prog in the control panel.

Try a program called regcleaner. It'll let you delete any Avast-related registery entries.

Hi, the obvious idea is to contact them but I didn't fancy trying to keep up an I.T bod on the phone.
So Microsoft Security Essentials is an all in one solution ? I've used regvac before so I'll give that a go aswell.
