Broadband and Mac

Yep, you can use anyone. I have NTL cable, and as I don't use their email (get a .mac account) I find it is fine. 24 GBP for 600K I think, not sure of 1Mb price.
Have a look on www.macassist.co.uk. There is a forum of very helpful people there.

Whilst i'm not particularly impressed with Demon's service (though you can never be sure whether the line is down because of the router, ADSL Line, or Demon's servers), I have found their helpline good and Mac-savvy. They also offer a static IP address.
One tip though, go with an Ethernet router over the Alcatel USB modem:
- The modem had a nasty habit of burning out the USB chip in your computer, if it sourced its power through there.
- Alcatel have a poor record of updating Mac drivers (using a router means no drivers)
- Sharing the connection is a doddle
- People seem to think the router is a better way to go (and you can network the house).
