Upgrading before contract expires

Apparently I cant!

I have an 18 month contract and want an Iphone but 02 say I cant upgrade untill my contract expires ?!?!?! Surely it would be in their interest to sign me up for another couple of years rather than tell me to bugger off for 6 months at which point I leave to go elsewhere......

Typically you can upgrade a month or two before the end of an 18 month contract, but not 6 months. The only way you'll get out of it is by paying off the remainder of the contract.

I upgraded. O2 know nothing about it. Bought an O2 Nokia X6 off Ebay, and sold my iPhone for pretty much the same money. Simple.
