GUI - Alternatives on XP?

Does anyone here use alternative GUI's?
A friend mentioned on his Facebook page he had started to use 'Rainmeter'.
So after a quick nosey, I downloaded it and had a tinker, it doesn't work to well with windows XP, and i was just playing about.
Does anyone use alternatives? if so what? And can i have a look?
Not just to XP, i just want to see what's what.
