My new PS3 slim has worked ok on WiFi for a few months. Not always great and not always available but generally ok.

My WiFi signal is 89% and all other devices wok ok, Vaio Laptop, iMac, iPhone etc.

My PS3 will not 'sign in' at all. No apparent reason and I have checked / re-input all settings...

It's driving me nuts - any ideas?

There is a software update out for the PS3, have you tried that?

You can update via a usb stick having downloaded from the playstation website.

However there is a problem with the ps3 and home hub. I went into the home hub settings via a computer and assigned a static IP address to it. If you can't work it out I'll try and remember exactly how.

I'm no WiFi expert but maybe you have a neighbour that has recently installed a wireless router that's interfering with yours? Tried changing the channel on yours?

My PS3 slim works OK on my BThomehub, i'm using a fixed IP address.

Type 'bthomehub' into your browser to see the router.

Go to 'advanced' settings, then select 'devices' You should see the PS3 or it's MAC address.

Select the PS3 and choose edit. You should have the option to tick a box which say 'always use this IP address'

Also check your router has UPnP enabled, also somewhere in the advanced settings I think...

Hope it helps

I have been at it for hours - the PS3 that is!

uPnp is enabled - fixed address - done. Still cant get it to work. I re-tried ethernet which was fine.

It did work for literally a minute but then failed again and has failed ever since.

So bloody frustrated!

Can't help with your issue, but I would recommend the Devolo AV 200 Starter Kit , sooo much more reliable (and faster) than wifi!

have you tried changing to channel 10 on the router and switching of N on the wi-fi settings? (just using b+g I think)

Thats what i had to do with my BT homehub (well the BT helpdesk talked me through it) and it works fine for my PS3 now

Still working I'm pleased to say (not that I use it much). I think our neighbour installed a BT Line (and assumably a home hub) but that was pre-xmas!
