A chap here at PistonHeads towers has one, so I've been having a play today. I'm an unabashed Mac fanboy but had convinced myself that the iPad wasn't for me, but now I'm not so sure. Bugger.

Likes:

- Form factor is lovely. It feels quite weighty in the hand, nice and substantial.
- Interface is as gorgeous as the reviews suggest. There are lots of little touches to the transitions between screens that make the iPhone suddenly look quite outdated.
- Many of the apps are absolutely great. Angry Birds in HD is wonderful, as are the Omni Graffle products and Twitterific.

Dislikes

Few, frankly. The screen attracts fingerprints a little too readily for my liking, and iPhone apps don't work well on it - pixellated as hell when blown up to double size.

Apart from that and my reluctance to part with cash for 1st gen Apple product, I'm going to struggle not to pick one of these up. Particularly if the OS 4.0 preview on Thursday reveals stuff that will solve some of the nagging issues around multi-tasking.

Anyone else managed to get their hands on one?

Are you able to use the iTunes app store? Do you need a US account or can you use gift tokens to add to the account? Currently seems that you cannot do this and you need a US account and a US credit card?

Brother is heading over to NY for the weekend and has offered to pick one up. I'm trying to show restraint.....

Unfortunately my self-will has the breaking strain of a warm Mars Bar when it comes to gadgets, so I'm probably doomed.

I'm heading out to Vegas on Friday and I'm quite tempted.

Not sure why though, I should buy a Dell Mini 10v as that will do everything I need. Unlike the ipad, but...

I bought a Mini 10. I regretted it instantly and it's currently gathering dust under my sofa....

I'm in trouble.

I've, in the space of a week, brought a 32Gb 3GS, and then got seduced by a MacBook Pro.

I'm now daydreaming about the iPad, and I know I'll be able to play with one soon - as my boss is a devout Appler.

Honestly, if anyone catches me anywhere near that ruddy Apple shop in Cribbs, shoot me.

Anyone know where I can get a black roll neck sweater from?

Strange, I love mine. (Mini 10v). Beautifully made, nice to use, fast...what's not to like?

Why couldn't they bring it out with a pixel qi screen for gods sake. What I hate most about my iphone is battery life and the ipad uses the similar tech.

I got one for MrsT on Saturday morning. Despite an initial reluctance, she's not stopped using it. The TSA announcement yesterday that you won't have to take it out of your bag at US airport security went down well!

I asked her how many apps she downloaded in the first day "not many came the reply" as she then reeled off about 15 of them.
