So, my Mom and Dad are after a new Pc. All they will be using it for is web browsing, listening to music (itunes) and Mom types the occasional letter/email.

They want a nice big monitor, windows 7, and it must be relaible. The one they have now is 5 years old, i would imagine this one will have to last a while aswell.

As you can imagine they are not very computer savvy, so far i think this or this fits the bill nicely. What do the computer gods of Ph think?

iPad? Ok doesnt have windows 7 or a large screen, but you can use manual zoom (moving face closer to screen).

Does web browsing, emails and itunes and is about that price. Very easy to use as well if its anything like the iphone.

I got one for my folks them from Dell, so if you know a little bit about computers, you can spec it what you think they'll need.

If they like the one they have, but it's a bit slow, would some more RAM and a system clean-up keep them going another couple of years?

Other than that, what you've spotted looks like it should fit the bill, but there don't seem to be any speakers, and the spec says no to a sound card?

EBuyer have some cheap basic machines.

Like : This you would need to add a monitor to it, or use the one they have for the moment.

How are they going to print out "the occasional letter" with an iPad? I know there is a basic office style suite for the ipad but is there any way of hooking it up to a physical printer?

I've just bought a Medion from them directly www.medionshop.co.uk - the Akoya P7220 and it rocks. Not in your price range, but the deals at Aldi, Argos and Sainsburys are very competitive.

I did an Everest scan of the internals and top quality products/components were used throughout.

As a brand I am now seeing them all over - they had the front page of the Sunday times footer last week...and on an F1 drivers helmet...

Never had one before but have just ordered one from the Medion shop. I ordered from them after seeing good reports on the Internet. I wouldn't worry too much about the RAM - with 4gig it should be plenty fast enough for what your parents want to do on it.
