Anyone got a legend yet?
I have just got a Desire and was looking at getting a legend on Vodafone for the misses. Reviews look good just wondered if anyone had first hand experience?

It's nothing compared to the Desire. It is a lot slower, the screen is not as good and it only allows single touch.

Read the HTC Desire thread currently running for more info as a lot of people have posted the differences between the two in there.

Been following the desire thread but hadn't spotted too much comparing the Legend.

Just got my Legend on Thursday.
So far very impressed with it, only concern is how quick it can use the battery when browsing, wi fi bluetooth etc.

But then the battery is meant to be better in the Legend than the Desire due to the slower processor speed.

I'm hoping it wil improve after a few charges. Great phone though

I was looking at the Legend over the desire as I figured I'd be able to utilise most of the stuff on the Legend better. Most of the reviews seem to say the Legend is a top notch bit of kit. My main issue with the Desire is size as the Legend fits into my hand very nicely.

Not compared it to the Desire, but the speed seems very fast, no lag from what I've seen so far.

Apparently the 600 processor and Android 2.1 makes for good process. Battery life has been good for me, obvisouly caning wi fi or web browsing for hours on end will see it sap the power, but a couple of days this week i've used wi fi for an hour, bluetooth on all day (but only connected for an hour or so on the way to work with my car kit) and made around 45 mins of calls and still had 70% left in the battery after swithing it on at 08:00hrs and being on till 23:00hrs.
Thats with 3g on too, but only collecting mail every 30 mins, not constantly connected to Gmail. (but will be trying that tommorrow to see how it performs)
I have kept the weather app to update every 3 hours, but switched off the liveFreinds stream thing as I have no desire to see what my friends are either tweeting/facebooing or whatever else, as and when they do it. Checking twice a day is plenty for me thanks!

One downside.........not to do with the handset, but an accessory. I bought the ZAGG bodyshield for it, but having fitted it, its hardly invisible, but rather looks like its wrapped in cling film. Bloody horrible.

I do need to find a decent case for it, so will have to keep looking.

Please do update Matt, the Legend is a very tempting machine for normal/mild use regarding business/personal activities.

Right. Battery has been good so far. This was yesterday, my hardest usage day yet:

- I have 3G on constantly
- its checking for weather updates every 3 hours
- email every 30 mins from my bt mail account (did set up Gmail, but only use it for calendar and contacts really)
- Bluetooth on all day to save me switiching it when i get in the car (but onloy used for calls for around 30 45 mins in total)
- Browsing web for around 3 hours yesterday (youngest in hospital so had phone in hand using 3g to surf during the day)

It doesn't lag, it flys along, and does far more than i'll ever use (or can be bothered to use) in terms of functionality etc.

I turned it on yesterday at 07:30 and turned it off at 23:30 (it still showed 20% better remaining). I did also get a 16gb card yesterday for my music, so will start to see what its like for usage over the next few days as a mp3 player.

I bought mine SIM free from Handtech (£359) but Play has them as well for the same money, but I just hate their slow free delivery. Handtech dispatched same day and I got it next day delivery.

(I initially upgraded to a Vivaz on Vodafone but sold it within 2 days for £300 on ebay, so used that money to get this phone, the benefit being its SIM free and unbranded in any way shape or form, which I like)

+1. The bods at the O2 store near me are clueless as to whether the Legend will be with them. I also thought (from what I read) that the Legend will only be available to Vodafone. If not then O2 it is. thumbup

This site seems to believe that the phone is available on o2. Not sure what type of contract it is and how it is defined.

The desire is only a few mm bigger than the legend

Legend

Desire

I compared my Desire with a friends Hero and there's literally nothing in it.

The Desire makes better use of the screen area.

I know it sounds weird, but that extra couple of mm's actually makes quite a difference. I feel the Legend fits in my hand a lot better than the Desire. I honestly won't be using the Desires full potential but as the Legend is practically the same, just a bit slower and without a couple of minor features, I feel it appeals to me that little bit more. Besides, it looks better than the Desire and I have this habit of not following people that go for the most popular. I kinda like the fact that its a bit of an underdog to the Desire.

Now forwarded all my previous email accout to Gmail and using the push facilty to keep a track on all my mail/calendar/contact updates.
Just spent 30 mins merging Yahoo contacts with Gmail and updating/linking accordingly. Really glad I did, as I now have replication on my phone, the same as my Gmail account.
As much as I hate Google having so much control over my personal activites, it just works, and works so well!
Next thing is to set my wife up with gmail calendar, allow access to my calendar to her and vice versa. Be so much easier to manage our social lives, that's for sure as they will both sync with each other. (thats the plan anyway)

The battery conditioning really seems to have come into life too, after 5 or 6 charges in the last week, its still sitting at 80% after being on for 6 hours today with pretty reasonable usage of calls and browsing.

Very good, thanks for the comment. Out of interest, and to add substance to your reply, I wonder if you'd be so kind to inform us just why the desire is the 'dogs' and no match for the legend?

Got a legend two weeks ago and pretty happy with it. Battery life is VERY dependant on screen brightness, gps and wifi. There's a stock app wich lets you control these easilly, is that and only turn them on when you need and battery life seems fine.
