Possibly a simple question... I have two phones on my Orange account, mine and the wife's. I am considering swapping to an I-phone for myself, but on my number I cannot upgrade until the end of the year. However on the wife's number, I can upgrade next month.

Are they clever enough to now know if I put my SIM in to the I-phone and I leave the wife using her number in her existing phone?

Doesn't matter if you do, aslong as you keep paying (both) your bills it makes no odds to them!!

You could buy the phone sim free and move your card into it now, then go on a sim only deal when your contracts up .. cheaper in the long run and only a 1 month contract not an 18 or 24 month one! This means you can chop and chane your contract as often as you like depending on who is doing the nest deal!!

I thought that was the case but wondered if they were a bit more tetchy over the I-phones. Cool, another month and I'll have one then! I'm quite happy to stick with Orange though, always had very good service from them for 10-years or so now.

Worth bearing in mind that your insurance only covers the phone if your contract SIM is in it. So if you damage the iPhone you would not be able to claim as your partner's SIM will not have been in it...and they will know that!

Also does the iPhone need any aditional services at network level like the BBerry?

Also have a look at getting your own phone directly.. I am looking at this as the discount on line rental I have been offered for a 12month commitment = £300! If I upg Voda want a 18month commitment so £450! saving on the line rental?

Then add the phone specifically as a named item on your home insurance and you are looking at another £6.99pcm saving on the Phone bill (cost me feck all in the home insurance) another £83 per year!
