Resizing pics in Windows 7
Discussion
Just come home from a very enjoyable day out at the Pistonheads Cheddar Gorge meet up. Took loads of pics and just downloaded them to my spanking new PC running Windows 7.
Want to email some to my mate I went with so no probs, quick copy and resize down to 1024x768 and bang them into a separate folder and away I go!
Right click in the existing folder to create a new one, err, no, don't have that option. Weird.
Right click to resize anyway, err, no.
Try and download a program to allow me to resize. Find one, download, drag pics in, tells me it will watermark all the pics. No good.
So I'm completely stumped!
So I'm curious, how do I mass resize (I used to just select all the ones I want, copy them, drag them into a sub folder then highlight them all and re-size them) and how do I create a sub folder?
And why is new improved Windows 7 so very very rubbish!?

Prish Image resizer is the simplest way of batch resizing images.

Adds right click functionality.

If you right click inside a folder windows you will have the option New> Folder.
Nothing has changed in Windows 7 in that respect.
If you are regularly taking pictures, it may be worth you getting something like Photoshop Elements.
Personally I use Photoshop which does everything you want and 100 times more.

If you want something identical to the Powertoy that was available for Windows XP then have a look here:
http://imageresizer.codeplex.com/
This is availbale in both 32 and 64-bit versions. This will do batch re-sizing.

I've never known Windows to natively be able to mass resize pictures on a right click.
You must have had a piece of photo editing software installed before which integrated into the shell to allow resizing in the right click menu.
Windows released a series of "Powertoys" for XP, one of which was the image resizer which was accessed via the context menu... It war quite good for straight up resizing, but the free software mentioned above, allows adding custom watermarks, borders, etc.You must have had a piece of photo editing software installed before which integrated into the shell to allow resizing in the right click menu.
Win7 (and vista I think) allow mass resizing in the send by email function:
- Open My Computer and navigate to the folder containing the pictures you wish to email.
- Select the group of files that you wish to email. Use Shift or Ctrl to select additional files.
- If the picture files are inside your Pictures folder, you should see an Email button at the top of the Window. Click this. If you do not have the Email button, right click and choose Send To > Mail Recipient. The Attach Files dialog box will appear.
- Choose a size for your pictures. The small option is suitable for most purposes and will give you the best reduction in file size. If you know your recipient has a fast Internet connection you may want to choose Medium or Large.
- Click Attach.

, thought it was someone like Stardock or someone,
.This would be extremely useful in Win7/Vista. I'll have to take a look at the apps given above.
