Here's an odd one for you chaps.

When I try and open an excel document by simply clicking on it, Excel opens and then I get a number of error messages corresponding to the path and filename I am try to open

e.g

I have to click OK on each message to get to the next. The message occurs for each word in the filename.

Once I have clicked through all the messages, I get a blank sheet.

I can open Excel files in the programme itself by doing the usual File/Open etc but not by clicking on the from My Documents.

Any bright ideas?

Rather than taking you through registry editing, I would hold shift then right click the Excel file. Choose to open it with notepad and then tick the box to Always use notepad. Then do the same again and choose to always use Excel - any joy?

It sounds like one, or it seems like alot of the formulas in the workbook your opening have errors in the file path structure for references. Have you changed your local or network drive setup since the workbook was created?

Nope, tried it with a freshly saved file with no formulae and it's happening on all files.
