How can I fade out a photo.
I have a photo which I want to add as a background to something I am doing, but I want to fade it a bit so the text stands out better.

open the photo.
CTL + J duplicates the layer.
Select the background layer and drag it to the bin.
Select your new layer, click on 'opacity' top right of layers pallette and reduce it.
drag this new layer onto your document you are working on, and make sure its at the bottom of the list of layer.
