Long story but I've never had a company phone but when a girl left last year, the boss said ok- I'll get you an iPhone - just get her phone back with the Sim card - an old Nokia. We have a business deal with O2 ... about five phones all in. This I did - waited a few months - last week he tells me it is here. Looked okay - being over 40 I only really want to ring people on the thing - not interested in the music etc.

Tried setting it up tonight - but wasn't sure what her number was - O2 had sent a new Sim card to me ... asked a colleague who gave me her old number. Registered it when I set up the iPhone thru iTunes - only to find he had given me the wrong no ... is this why I have NO SERVICE at the top?

O2 weren't much help - bloke said "Restore the factory setting snad reload ITunes - which I did - Ias an aside, it is really necessary to load ITunes of you just want to use it AS A PHONE?)

Anyway, short of me marching into0 the O2 shop in town tomorrow - am I doing something wrong - woudl registerting the no WRONG on the iTunes website prohibit me from receiving some info *through the air* or summat - I don't know about these thigns - but unlike Apple computers, this won't just plug & play ....

I have sorted the internet and my home email on it - so have WiFi - just not a phone line ...

Cheers

It can take a while for an iPhone to be registered through their system to the network. Leave it overnight.

And, unfortunately, iTunes is pretty much the only way to do it (there might be other unofficial ways, but I've not used them).

Good progress... Get those doors open so I know when you're in! Love my iPhone, it does everything I want and more. I'm becoming an Apple fanboy, might even treat myself to an imac!
