What OS are you on?

Try opening the CD with Windows Explorer and right clicking the executable. If you have a Compatability option, mess about with that (makes the program think you're running with Win 98 etc , depending on what option you select)

What CD - what does it do?
Are you on XP / Vista?
Can your mates play it?

  • Go into Windows explorer.
  • Browse the CD
  • Open the autorun.inf file and copy/paste the contents in here.
That'll give us a bit more of a clue.

Hold down the "Windows" key (next to space bar usually - the one with the windows logo on it) and press the letter "e".

This will bring up explorer. Right click on the CD ROM in the left hand side and choose "Explore".

This will open the contents of the CD. Whats in there?

Cheers,

Paul.

EDIT: Just a thought, if the CD is older or badly tested then it might not work with Vista, which is known for some compabaility issues with older software. Do you have access to another machine, say Windows XP, can you try it on there?

When in the file press CTRL + A (selects all) then CTRL + C (copys the selected text)

Then post a reply here and press CTRL + V (pastes copied text)

Anything in your program files from when you ran the Setup?

The file "Construction Skills" appears to be an installable application also.

Does this title relate to what is on the CD, and what your expecting to install?

If so, click on that one (I'm quite a "click-and-see" gun-ho me! biggrin).

P.

(EDIT: As a side note, the file you opened earlier doesn't seem to cater for Windows Vista. I think this might be the auto-run file which checks the OS version you are on. As it doesn't see anything in the file relating to Vista, this may be why your getting the "wrong OS version" message)
