Here's the link - http://www.facebook.com/f8
From what I've gathered they're basically getting as many as websites as possible to use Facebook on their sites and to integrate features such as the 'Like' button onto websites.
So for example you can go onto imdb.com and through their site 'Like' a film and also see which friends also like the film.
It's using your friends to make suggestions and trying to change the way we find things on the web.
It's already, as of today, been adopted by a lot of very large sites. They said 9 of the 10 biggest news providers will have it very soon.

Guess they could really make inroads in to the 'single sign on' idea, pushing Open ID out of the picture quickly.
Personally, I prefer to maintain some privacy by having different profiles for different sites, but I can see that it would ease use of sites for those less concerned.
I'm confused by what they're doing regarding the single sign in. They announced they are killing off Facebook Connect, their current sign-in thing.Personally, I prefer to maintain some privacy by having different profiles for different sites, but I can see that it would ease use of sites for those less concerned.
I agree on the privacy for different sites, for example commenting on a blog, I wouldn't always want my full name given out. If I logged in with FB Connect then it would usually show that, along with a link to my profile.

Surely you already know which films your friends like...or find out by speaking to them?
why use your actual voice, when you got a keyboard
"why meet face to face, when you got a telephone

Ah, really? I've experimented with it. It actually works really well but they've buggered it up by varying how much data can be transferred and by allowing endless stupid apps gain access to profile data. End result - confusion and mistrust. PetrolTed said:

For example imdb have it on every movie now. So if you go to Avatar you can 'Like' the movie and if any of your friends have already 'Liked' it, it will also show that. I'm not sure how that really benefits the user. Imo, the imdb score is a far better indication of movie quality than the number of likes!
Facebook have an amazing opportunity to do great things, but I suspect as ever they'll just confuse the issue with poor terminology and bad communication/education.
Just look at how they've buggered around with privacy settings over the last couple of years. Are we any better off than two years ago? Personally I feel I have less privacy.
