Screen replaced

My mates screen broke on my laptop and he managed to get another screen second hand from another laptop (similar model, same make).

The only problem is that the picture doesn't quite fit (the taskbar along the bottom isn't visable and the right hand side is about a centimeter short).

I've played around with the display setting resolution sizes, and it's almost there but just can't get an exact fit. Is there anyway I could get it fitting? Or does it look like he'll need the exact model screen?
