Over the past couple of weeks i have been getting 3 or 4 Emails every day with viruses attached.
They seem to have the headings, 'Is this true', 'I dont believe it', etc etc.

Is anyone else getting these and how can i stop them?

Me too, and we're in different countries, so it's not just you. I get stuff that says (message) "important information", "hi", "it's true", "is that your name" etc., with some attachment in a format I don't recognize. The subject will also say something like "read this immediately". They usually come from people I don't know. So, if there's no real message, non-descriptive title, wierd attachment, and from a stranger, delete it without opening. I have a feeling that the sender's address may be used without their knowledge somehow (I don't know how viruses and worms spread), and sent to a group on a server. Most people, even ads, give more information than that. If someone's really bent on contacting you, they can do a people search and call you on the phone or write you snail-mail. Just delete and don't feel bad that it "might" be something important. People who think you owe them money will find a way to get in touch with you!

I delete everything that either A) i dont recognise the sender, B) it has no subject or says something like 'hi'.....
would rather erase a mail i should have read than screw the PC with one i shouldnt have!

I've spent most of this afternoon battling against MSBlast and Nachi...

What REALLY pisses me off is that I have the lastest anti-virus and firewall from McAfee...!

Publish your email anywhere and then you'll see if your pc can handle.
Had to publish the company email in job website for recruiting purposes. Got much more virus then candidates in return!

I get loads. Just don't open them. Most you can tell from the dodgy email address, but I had one once that didn't fool me...was titled "re enquirery 237904" from a microsoft address but I've never made an enquirery!

Get an email account with an ISP who scans for viruses.

Tony,

Try www.cloudmark.com/products/spamnet/download/ assuming you use Outlook/Outlook express

You could also try swapping to an ISP that has their own anti-virus/spam service - try www.ukonline.net/services/ where you get one for free in the package (there are other ISPs out there that also do anti-spam/virus)

Joust,
Thanks for that. Im presently with BT Broadband and the Anti Virus system that i have is AVG.
It tells me that an email is infected but i have to do some careful clicking to make sure that i dont open it.

Untrue. These viruses are not spam. As a specific example, I have an email account with an ISP that uses Brightmail spam filtering, yet a number of MyDoom viruses get through each day.
