The power socket on my laptop got pushed in to I unscrewed it all to have a look inside. The plastic that was holding the socket in place had broken so I pulled it out. I've got a few crappy pictures of it so you can just about make out what I want to fix. The actual socket is leaning to the left in the pictures and you can see that the base it needs sticking to is uneven so it can't just be glued down. Anybody got any ideas?

Is it possible to bend the bent bits back to being flat? either that or do some DIY and cut a custom socket hole for it!

I would consider replacing the socket with a panel mounted version so that it'll be held in with nuts and bolts.

Alternatively, and more of an ugly bodge, this: use Araldite to stick the existing socket in place. Then make a short fly lead (plug connected to line socket with a short wire) and attach it to the side of the laptop with a couple of cable ties (drill suitable holes) to relieve any strain on the glued socket.

yup, araldite sell it as 'repair putty'. It'll certainly hold that.

Or hot-melt glue gun.
