Email Spam problem

My wife has an fsmail.net email account. In the past week. she has been absoluterly hammered with spam, into her inbox. Her blocked list is already full up. She spends a long time every day clearing the spam out of the inbox. Can anyone shed any light on this change in the level of spam?

Is it web mail? if you use a client, like Windows Live mail, or outlook, they usually filter it for you

Yes, it's web mail. Nope, their filtering isn't working as such. The junk mail is filling up, but the main inbox is 98% spam for new messages. Anyone?

Honestly, once they get your address, you're fked unless you have some seriously heavy duty filtering.

We're a small company as these things go but our mail logs are full of junk being (or attempting to be) sent to people who left 10 years ago.

I'd second Google Mail, very little makes it to my inbox, but also maybe have a look at Cloudmark personal edition or whatever they call it these days if your wife uses a desktop email program rather than solely webmail.
