No, it moves the problem from the code to the framework as far as I can make out.

Added to which all the gumf points to a CLR being available on a variety of platforms when in actuality its probably going to be Windows only.

The new XML powered screen malarky thats in the new version of Windows however looks very interesting.

I had a dabble with .NET and am not convinced that the balance of learning curve versus benefits are currently worth investing in.

I shall continue dabbling but I'm not ready to dive in yet...

It's not a learning curve, it's a learning cliff.

There are also fewer security risks that currently plague IIS.

I have had a few weeks with .net and couldnt do a thing with it. Went Back to Visual Studio V6 and got what i needed to do ion a matter of days.

Simpo -= Do you use GoLive?? I just started and found it considerable easier then Dreamweaver but it is not as powerful as dreamweaver

Well we're using VS.net to re-write our main web-based property/client managmenent system (with SQL back end). If you've used MS products before (interdev/VS6/VB/asp etc) then its quite easy to pick up. Once you've 'got it' the development lead times are waaaaaay shorter than anything else we've ever used and it has some great features.
