New MyDoom Virus Variant Detected!

A new variant of the W32.Mydoom (W32.Novarg) worm spread rapidly through the Internet.

Yep, it's a self-install virus. But people have fallen for it.

Get some AV software!

Virus writers are getting really lazy recently.

I had an email that said.

"To make sure your system is completely virus free and there is no chance to be infected with a virus please delete the contents of your entire hard disc and never switch your PC back on again"

I didn't fall for it though.........well almost

I got one from ntl that claimed that my email account was corrupt and I should download and run the attached file ( a .zip) using a specified password.
It was signed 'the ntl team' and included a link to ntlworld.com (like THAT proves anything ).
Coincidentally, I WAS having email problems and MIGHT have fallen for it had it not been written in pidgen English 'please to download and run the attach'.
As it happens, ntlworld's homepage currently carries a warning that lists what to look out for (worth a look even if you aren't with ntl)... one of them being .zip attachments.

Twatty little virus feckers, I'd like to give them a good chinning.
