Am thinking of going away to Greece in August but I will need to check my e mails and am taking a laptop. I will be a fair distance from any internet cafes so it would be good to get online where we are staying.

Assuming there's a telephone line, whats the easiest & cheapest way to hook my laptop up when abroad?

Mods - No idea what forum this should be in, so have plonked it in the Lounge.

Probably not via tethering on your phone. Just been landed with a £150 bill from the USA, for a couple of hundred Mb.

If you carry modem cables, etc: http://www.anyweb.gr/free-dial-up-internet-in-gree...

Wifi in some local place... best bet

You can get a 3G broadband thing here and then add a package to allow a certain amount of data (usually 50MB for 50 quid or something), so its expensive. You MIGHT be able to get a local provider one, but most will ask for a local address, so it can be hard. Not sure about Greece, but worth checking out in advance.

Assuming you only need occasional access, walk into an internet cafe and plug in for a couple of Euros. Or, find a bar with free access.
