Been with BT 25 years +
We have a rather long house and needed to have 2 internet connections. One either end
One I use for work and one for family use.
Now with new lap tops and better transmitters we can get a signal at either end of the house so last year told BT we wanted to cancel one of the Internet conections and keep the existing one with it's own phone line plus an additional phone line.
I was unaware that by doing this they cancelled all my previous history and I started again as a new customer. As we use the net and phone a lot (£500~600 per qtr) they keep sending us a bill every few weeks.
I have asked umpteen times for a qtrly bill as normal not endless bills for £67 0r £39.
They say there is "NOTHING WE CAN DO" this will continue for 12 months until you become an established customer. We even pay by direct debit.
How can they not stop this crap ?
Anybody had the same situation and found a solution ?
Thanks

It's a problem because I want to get a bill every qtr or atleast covering uniform periods like monthly.
Now they came at all odd times covering diffrent periods and different ammounts.
Also it's paid by direct debit so instaed of matching one amount with one bill we have 10 or 11 amounts to match. If their was a reason for it one would be more understanding but there is no Benefit to me or BT. 11 bills through the post every qtr.
What kind of computer systen can they have that can't have minor overrides ?
I sopke with someone today who told me it cannot be sorted. It will sort it's self out after 12 months.
The 10 previous people I have spoken with all told me they woudl sort it nad didn't. It takes a long time to get through to a person on BT's automatyed call handling system. Usually someone in India when the call takes twic as long as is necessary.
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks

I have a different problem to you also.
They won't send me a bill.
You heard that right.
I asked at the start for monthly bills.
Nothing. Nadda. Zip.
Rang up asked where my bill was after a couple of months. To be met with you owe us X amount, why haven't you paid it? I paid it over the phone and said please send me some bills. They said we send them by email...........
Then comes the funny bit, I asked what my email address was as I wasn't receiving them (bear in mind BT supply my internet and pop server too), we haven't got your email on file.
So how the s****ng useless ass hats have you been sending me bills
So I say that's fine just tick the paper bills please monthly option, once again I get promised this is done.
Fast forward 2 months red demand letter.
Ring up angry pay again say why aren't you sending me bills. To save time just start at the beginning.
This repeats every 2 months. If a company can't be trusted to actually send a bill for the services supplied how the hell can you trust them to do anything else!! Useless gits.

Just whatever you do don't move house and keep BT and use their "BT Move Service" and give them a couple months notice, we moved (all of 0.6 of a mile)....3 weeks post move they finally connected the landline.... and 3 months later after about 30 or 40 calls, went through 10 depts even though they only give options for 6, we have broadband after they had kindly cancelled the "order" without my instruction or telling us, mostly be feckin' off and never coming back

I have to say that's a remarkably bizzare solution!BT closed my account a few mths ago and transferred it to "your BT Vision account". Never even knew I had such a thing!
So I got a closing bill that ran to 12 pages with all the debits and credits and then started getting monthly bills.
Why did they do this? I still have no idea - I rang them and shouted a bit and they said they'd written and told me they were going to do this. They hadn't. I shouted at them a bit more and they changed it back to quarterly bills.

I've had one or two issues with BT over the years but if you get the right person they can do almost anything.

IF - takes a lot of searching .Problem , you have ( and I'm not being racist) to get hold of a UK call centre .Be it Broadband /customer service or whatever .My last few problems ,before I got out were caused by overseas call centres .And cured by the intervention of someone sensible in the UK.

We moved house last month and used the moving service. They managed to connect us at the new place within a week, which was excellent. They also managed to be speedy at the old house, cutting us off about half an hour after we placed the order
