Is there a peice of software available that create thumbnails. In the process of completing a website of photos and want to be able to fill a page of thumbnails than be able to click the photo and bring up a new window with the picture in it.

Or do I have to create each thumbnail using photoshop?

Photoshop will do it -

File --> Automate --> Web photo gallery.

Even if the layout of the page isn't right, it will create all the thumbnails in a directory.

Not sure what version of Photoshop you are using but I know the last 2 versions have this feature built in.

Go to file, automate and choose Web photo Gallery that will do you nicely.

I use a web album that generates the thumbnail and scaled picture for me when I add the main pic. It means I can stick an image directly from the camera, and the webalbum will generate an 800x600 jpeg and a thumbnail.

If you use FrontPage try Insert/Web Component/Photo gallery. Worth a poke.

Quick question for you. Every page this program creates is called index then index2 etc. Is there any way to change this or do I just need to save each set of photos into a different folder.

E.G
www.mysite.co.uk/photos/Birthday/index (One set of photos)

www.mysite.co.uk/photos/CourseNightOut/index (Another set of photos)

Or am I being stupid?

From memory I think it assumes that all the pics you shove into it in one go are from the same collection, and it splits them up into manageable chunks depending on how many there are, so:

mysite/birthday/index.html
mysite/birthday/index2.html etc

For your next collection, you start again, so:

mysite/cars/index.html
mysite/cars/index2.html
mysite/cars/index3.html etc

Perhaps the mistake you're making is trying to do all of your (unrelated) photos in one go...?

I have been doing each set of photos differently but was saving them to the same folder which then met they were over written. I realised this last night and started creating sub folders for them like you have done above.

I thought perhaps i was going mad.
