Hi,

I'm currently writing a program that accesses the internet. The problem is Zone Alarm pops up and asks if I want to allow it to access the net every time I recompile it. Even if I tick the "don't ask me again" box it still does. I guess because it thinks it's a new program each time I recompile. Is there anything I can set in Zone Alarm to let this program run every time, even after I recompile it?

cheers

Dam, I can't edit the title!

Not sure if this will work for you, but it has worked for me in the past.

Go to the Program Control panel and select the program concerned. Then in the bottom right hand corner, click options.

On the panel that then opens, so to the Security tab and under Authentication, deselect 'Authenticate Components' and select 'Authenticate program by full path name only'.

This stops Zone Alarm checking the MD5 checksum that will change each time you recompile.

Yes. There is an option to tell ZoneAlarm to identify the program by full path name only. Just select that.

Edit: Bugger. Beaten to is as I had a phone call whilst I was typing my response.

I've had a good look through it and can't see any options to do this . The ZoneAlarm help says you simply right click the program and select "Changes Frequently" but when I right click I only get the option to remove or add another program. Could this be because I'm not using the Pro edition?

Aah possibly. The instructions I gave above were for the pro edition V4.5.
