Could anyone give me some pointers here ?

My friend running Win ME has accidently selected a Refresh Frequency that his pc can't run and now can't use it. He can see the post bit at the start but when Windows begins to load the picture goes.

Thanks in advance !
(he's running an old P200 but on a new TFT - daft I know)

simpo two is correct.

To get into safe mode, you need to press F8 just before Windows starts to load. The best technique is just to keep hammering the F8 key from power on until windows starts.

Once in safe mode, reset the refresh rate to the desired value by right clicking on a blank area of the desktop and selecting properties. Select the settings tab then click advanced. Click the monitor tab and set the desired refresh rate - 60Hz for a flat panel , I believe. Then just ok your way out and restart into normal mode.

...and then tick the box that says "hide modes that this monitor cannot display" so that he doesn't do it again!
