Very strange - this morning it took 6 mins to pull all my files off my FTP site.

Putting virtually the same files back on is taking 6 hours.

Anyone care to hazard a guess? I have no problems with HTTP speed.

Download speeds are ALWAYS faster than upload speeds, usually by between 5 and ten times. What file size is it?

It could also be the server your uploading to is busier in that direction (someone leeching lots etc)

what link are you on, and what link is your server on ?

I'm hosted with oneandone.co.uk - come to think of it I was even having problems logging on to my FTP site earlier on!

Can't tell you my link - cos it's just junk at the moment. Mrs Puggit does the site anyway

Meant link as in what connection are you on

slowdem, DSL, Cable, Leased Line etc

would help diagnose your issues, but you have self diagnosed, oneandone say no more.

Still, just as well you got it cheap

150k, thats the 'narrowband broadband' isnt it

whats the upload on that, 64k ?

Would explain a tad why things taking so long to upload,

As for oneandone, they are not bad, just commensurate with what you pay.

IIRC 1&1 were doing a 'free hosting' deal a while back, in an effort to drive new custom in.. Possbily suffering from over subscription post offer now.

Still... like you say, web works fine.

you still having poor speeds, or just certain times of the day?
