Hello all

I am getting this error message when sending and receiving using Outlook Express:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.blueyonder.co.uk (2)', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Anybody understand this? I have checked all my conections in internet options etc and all looks ok. I can send and receive ok in Outlook.

are you using a third party spam checker or the such like? - the server ip is your own machine so it looks for mail service (such as spam assasin)on your machine. If this prog is not running you could get this type of error.

In your account settings, you need to put pop3.blueyonder.co.uk as the address of the POP3 server (instead of 127.0.0.1) and give it a more descriptive name, such as "Blueyonder"

Hello, everyone, new here!

A quickie about this, why would it all of a sudden change from what it originally was?

I had set mine up as a pop3 on the incoming mail but it changed itself to that numeric address?

Is this virus related?

Cheers.

Mark.

Probably not. If you've installed any spam washer type software then it will intercept the mail and clean it before your e-mail client reads it. Your e-mail client then picks the e-mail up locally from the spam washing software. 127.0.0.1 is always your own machine.
