I sometimes have my latop plugged in to a home network (ethernet workgroup) which is using ICS to share my broadband.

I have a desktop plugged directly in to the cable modem as the ICS host. This machine is running Zone Alarm to protect the public side, and the private side is wide open.

Does Zone Alarm protect my laptop too?

Thanks in advance to the PH know-it-alls

should do as your laptop will get and address in the private space. If in doubt give it a test.

I have a similar configuration, but have ZA on both machines for when the laptop is out and about and connected directly to the internet itself, rather than through the protected network.

When connected through the ICS machine, ZA on the laptop never alerts to external threats, because they are all stopped at the ICS machine. When out in the wild so to speak, the laptop ZA alerts as normal.
