I have noticed that when I go 'Back' and 'Forward' between websites using IE6 that I am downloading each page every time I visit it instead of quickly reading in from cache.

I have tried all four of the settings in 'Tools, Internet Options, Settings' but none of them make any difference. The Temporary Internet files folder is set at 4096MB and I have 65GB of free space on my hard drive. Being on modem this is making things very slow.

Any clues?

Why have you got 4Gb of temp internet space? - always keep mine down to 100Mb.

I'm not an HTML expert but I think how the cache works depends on what the website you are visiting allows your browser to cache. IE (no pun) if you were watching a stocks page you wouldn't want it to cache data but any mostly static page site then fine cache it. I think Ted was on about allowing cached pistonheads in website feedback forum. Something to do with page Time To Live values probably.

I stand to be corrected
