Wireless Routing Query
Discussion
Hi All,
I'm familiar with networking and wireless stuff in general, running several wireless networks, but routing always sends me up the creek. Any help appreciated.
I'm investigating installing wireless broadband at my Mother's house. The basics are that the ISP has a big high-gain omni antenna to which you point your directional high gain antenna and there's your broadband link over 802.11b. All straight forward so far.
What I want to do is use a wireless 'box' to talk to the ISP and another wireless 'box' to then repeat the wireless signal on another channel locally around the house. This second 'box' or the green side if it's a one box solution needs to route correctly, auto-assign via DHCP etc.
Is it as simple as I need a wireless repeater or wireless-to-wireless bridge...? I've seen a Linksys AP11 access point (cheap at £40 or so) that one their site would appear to do just what I need if I use two of them.

Are they cheaper than a repeater / is this the best option.
What about something like this from D-Link...?
www.dlink.com/products/?pid=303
Green network speed is unimportant, 11b is fine as it's only for Internet not throwing large files and the red network is 11b anyway, so just looking for a cheap solution, not necessarily one-box but it does have to be standalone and not reliant on a PC to route.
I'm okay with setting the stuff up, I just don't quite know what hardware I need.
TIA,
Roop
