I know this may be a daft question but have got a really annoying problem with my screensaver that there may be an answer to.
I have a PC with XP home and a iiyama Vision master Pr 512 if it makes any difference. The screensaver comes on after whatever number of minutes I have set it to, no problem. When I come back to it and move the mouse (cordless?) it takes over 5 seconds for anything to happen to the screen. I know this is not major but it is bloody irritating.
I do not want to disable the screensaver, is there anyway of having it come back to life instantly like all the other PCs I have had did?

I dont think you can actually set the time value for how long it takes to come back on. Just clear up the processor load and dont cry over 5 seconds of waiting.

Rather than your screensaver, its not the monitor going into hibernation is it?

By that I meant can it have anything to do with the cordless mouse transmit/receive thing having some sort of delay.

Think power is the right track. Two things it could be:-

1) If its a CRT and its gone into standby it will take a few seconds to warm up.
2) If your hard drive has been set to turn off then the it takes a few seconds to spin back up. You should be able to hear it start up when you move the mouse.

Also if its a fancy screen saver they can take up system resources and delay your return to the desktop. BUT it would have to be a flash screen saver or your perhaps a not so fast PC.

Both the hard drive and the monitor are set to "never" go off on the power settings. It may well be something to do with my monitor(CRT), who knows, will e-mail their tech mob and put it to them.

Most fancy screensavers are processor and memory hungry, and it will take a while for the screensaver app to close and the desktop to reappear. You could try using a basic screensaver just to see if it's that. Try having the task manager open showing the processor load etc while the other screensaver is running then close it after a while. This will show you how much it's using and how long it is taking to unload.

Nothing fancy here, just a normal Windows one.

I fear it is just the way Iiyama monitors work. I have the Vision Master Pro 454 and it too takes a good 5 to 10 secs to come on after the mouse is wiggled. I also have a CTX on the same video card (twin head setup) and it springs to life immediately.

It sounds like it is a monitor thing then, that being the case I will have to live with it and be more patient.
Thanks all for your help.
