Can you see the film in question in the movies section of iTunes before you plug your iPad in?
If so, when you plug your iPad in, check said film is visible in the movies tab in the iPad window (pick iPad from the devices list on the left hand side) as well and that you have the "sync movies" box ticked.
Then hit Sync and it should do the rest for you.....?
When you say you are dragging and dropping, I think that may be the problem - you must use iTunes to put the files on there, no other method, as far as I know.

Jesus....
Go to Preferences and make sure that Films is checked on the first tab titled "General".
Connect your iPad and then click where the first arrow points on the diagram above.
Then along the top you WILL see Movies where the second arrow points. Click that and then make sure Sync all movies is seleceted.
Then as long as the movie you added has a check box next to it (under the movies link on the left hand side).
It isnt complicated, it is a good piece of software that can be configured which ever way you want to use it, so there will be setting for all sorts. If it wasnt configurable more people would be moaning it didnt do what they wanted. I even use it on Windows and it works fine.
Now after all this if you ask where Preferences is.............
Edit: Sorry if that seemed a bit sharp but this thread was in danger of going round in circles, even after Blue Meanie's perfectly clear picture.

Cheers all.
Jackal, Ive got to disagree about it being a good piece of software. I have been using it for years now and I find it particularly user unfriendly even now.
It might be fine if you spend half your life playing about with it, but if you just want it to do basic things without fuss, its a pain in the arse.
