Search engine issue...

It's driving me bonkers. If i search using Google and then click one of the links it sends me to another search engine or somewhere else!

I googled 'pistonheads' for example and when i click the link i end up here;

http://www.goingonearth.com/search.php?q=pistonhea...

then got redirected to here;

http://www.groupon.co.uk/sites/www.mycitydeal.co.u...

It seems to be completely random.

Is this just when you are using Google normally, or is it when using the PH site search? Can you describe exactly what is happening?

It's not a PH problem so website feedback is the wrong place for this to be.

Sounds like you have a problem. Try the usual tools; mbam and search & destroy.

Sounds like a malware problem to me though, Malwarebytes and a decent anti-virus would be my first courses of action.

Its my work computer, and this sort of thing is one of the many reasons why I won't touch Windows at home.

I've logged a call with IT which could take days but wanted to know if I could delete anything. I'm not allowed to install programs myself but would have thought a large corporate network would be safe from this sort of thing given how locked down it is.

Re-directs are a symptom of lots of rootkits & malware going around at the moment. Suggest you stop using the PC and see about cleaning it up/getting it cleaned up.

Deleting stuff would be pretty unwise without first getting a diagnosis of the problem.

The answer was provided by the Lord. As it's a works computer you have no option but to stop using it (as advised by the post above) until the IT chaps come and clean it and tell the user to stop clicking on st.

It's happening to my laptop at the moment. I'll run some spyware and report back.
