R107 280/300SL

Apologies if this has been covered already but I am in need for a spot of advice......
My parents are currently looking at Mercedes-Benz 280/300SL from the late 1970s and early 1980s (the R107 chassis I believe?) with which to replace their w123 1984 280CE (a car I prefer to the SL due to it's lesser known status) and have asked me for some advice as prices seem to vary wildly.
The bulk of the SL's seem to be between £6,000 and £23,000 which is a large price jump in my eyes.
I know the cheap ones will have more miles, and be rotten, as all old mercs are (read enough merc gazettes to realise this).

> Essentially is it worth paying £18k plus for one when there's some with 40k miles, history and at small dealers for £9k-ish?
Lastly, has anyone dealt with a london dealer who advertises upon here going by the trade name of BOYZ TOYZ LONDON?
This is where my father has found one example that appeals as it appears to be middle of the price range and with history.
