C280 sport, any good ??

After a recent trip to the ring in my 98' 328i touring, my brother decided he needed a comfy auto barge in his life. So he has bought a 95 plate C280 sport, 161k, and for shed money lol.

We are going to pick it up on saturday, obviously for the money its not going to be a minter but is there anything we need to look/listen for on the test drive??

Check for oil leaks around the CHG and check the engine wiring harness for any signs of the insulation breaking down. If the gearbox is a 5 speed (the mode selector switch will show S and W), check that the ATF has been changed regularly and that it changes up and down thru the gears smoothly. Knocks from the front end are likely to be down to anti roll bar bushes or ball-joints, neither of which are an expensive fix. Pre-facelift C classes seem to be less prone to rust than later ones, but check for it nonetheless.
