AMG Warranty?

Do any of you AMG owners have a non-MB warranty?

Apparently the MB Tier1 warranty is meant to be very good - but for a long time now I've avoided main dealers, because I find I get a much better service at cheaper prices from specialists/independants. Of course, to qualify for the MB warranty you need full MB SH - so I just wondered if anyone else went a different route?

This is based on an SLK55, by the way. While reliable, seems small issues can cost a small fortune to fix, and a warranty is essential....

My warranty on my SL55 AMG is coming up for renewal and I have the choice to renew with Mercedes Tier 1 at £1550 (no xs) or £1335 (100 xs); Tier 2 at £1355 (no xs) or £1189 (100xs)...., or switch to someone like warranty direct at £968 with no xs, or do without... I haven't decided yet, but on the merc owners forum there are varying opinions which have given me a good grounding to make a decision based on other people's experiences. I will more than likely go with the Merc warranty Tier 1 since it has served me well over the past year and virtually everything has been covered.

Saw a comment on one of the Merc forums the other day that MB have whacked up the price of warranties on AMG models dramatically - like 3x.

Just renewed my Tier 1 with a 250 excess it was £1160 ish. Don't trust the SL55 to not take me to the cleaners
