Was shocked at what my local MB dealer was offering me for my 53 Plate E-class 270 CDI 60K - £5300. So the question is - how do you bargain hard on a £40K Merc (Trade or Private). I am a cash buyer looking for a GL.

Richard

They'd rather sell on finance as there are commissions from the finance company both on individual transactions and when they hit targets. You'll get the best deal by buying on finance then cancelling the finance during the cooling off period. That said, some main dealer finance is so cheap it is almost interest free and you may prefer to take it than tie up your capital.
