I will do it on mine at the next service when it has done about 85.000 km - let's see if Mercedes in Belgium have different recommendation than the usual "sealed for life" line.

I will do mine regardless next july when the warranty runs out and will be doing the servicing myself.
Dealers over here want £250 to do it so a bit of saving there!

try this link -

Its the ESS (electronic service sheet) website available from Mercedes thhat they use to Calculate whats due on your car when you phone up for a service.
Just enter all your details & click on your model etc then click on the print service sheet heading & it will give you a service sheet for your car.
The mileage for an auto box oil change is usually about 40,000 miles & its a once only recommendation by Mercedes. However it does depend on the auto box fitted to your car as to whether it needs this oil change. This is a cutting i took from a service sheet for a 2008 C220 cdi blue efficiency model i put in on ESS.
Service 20 - Once 31,000 miles/3 years
Automatic transmission: Carry out oil and filter change (with transmission 722.9 - NAG2)

Mine was changed by the previous owner at 63.000 km - changes are smooth but the 5 speed box can be sluggish at time.

according to MB technical the 722.9 gearbox its 3 years or 36k , better sooner rather than gearbox re-build which is expensive

Mb insist that gearbox is only fitted to the Blue EFFy models and mine is a earlier box

I've just come across this thread. I had a S202 and it was supposedly sealed for life until I was advised otherwise. I changed it at 75,000 but had had no signs of problems at all. I sold it at 250,000 and two oil changes. I now have a S204 facelift 2012 which has done 60,000 and I am confused by various advice on the internet. It's the 7-speed auto, and some seem to say that at 40,000 it should have an oil and filter change, but again some say a sealed box, which the S202 supposedly was! The car runs fine, no snatching or jerking, so do I leave sleeping dogs well alone or rush to my local independent?

Our 7G boxes are now 10 and 8 years old, but the MB advice at the time they were new was a once-only change at 45,000 miles. Once only seems strange (but better than sealed for life) to me, so we have changed the fluid and filter at 90k too, and will do the same at 135k - currently at 122k and 118k and all ok so far.

ATF should always be changed every 30-50k miles.
