Hi
Can anyone help with tyre sizes, our CLK 350 has 245/40 17 at the back and 225/45 17s at the front. With winter tyres it is quote difficult to get a set to fit, I can get Duplop D4s for the rear, but only D3s for the front, and there are no D3s to fit the rear.

Does anyone know if it would be okay to put 225/45 17s all round, I'm told they'll fit the wheels, but I don't know if they'll be okay safety wise.

The OHs C klass Coupe has that tyre size combo.

We used Kleber Quadraxers in the 225 size all round last winter in some pretty shocking snow in the Pennines and they were amazing. They're actually an "all season" tyre but carry the "3 peaks and snowflake" symbol and we never ever got stuck (even when "testing" them in silly places). You can drive in snow that's deeper than the front bumper, like a snow plough. I cannot recommend them highly enough. The good thing is that in dry use and on wet winter roads they work even better.

What we did was get another set of matching alloys (but the lower J size for the 225 tyre), refurb them amd have put the Klebers on there for winter - no use wearing the winter tread down when it's not winter. I'll be putting them back on in late November I think.

It will be OK to run the smaller size all round or to put D4s in front and D3s in back.

We just ran them all round. I was fine.

Your insurance may be bothered - depends if your manual lists the 225s as an all round fitment option.

Thanks for all the in put guys, very helpful. I think I'll run a mix of D3's and 4s.

I have the same tire sizes on my SLK 350. I have Kumho KW27s all around with staggered fitment. Got it from mytyres.
