SL55 ABC suspenders

I have just bought a Lovely SL55 AMG with factory Pace Car pack.

It crying out for a bit of lowering, it seems to sit too high considering it have the luxury of height adjustment.

Is there any way of setting the system so it sits lower on normal setting?

you basically have two options, you can either buy an electric module for lowering (has been known to occasionally cause the odd error message from what I remember but generally are good) - you can see them advertised e,g, on fleabay usually 700-1000 pounds

second option (which I went for), you can buy lowering links from a few diff sources and these can replace the original links (costs are approx 100-150 pounds), these can be manually adjusted (they look like small spanners), I think they work by tricking the car into thinking it is sitting higher than usual, I have had them on my sl55 for approx 12 months with no issues/error messages,

just type "mercedes sl lowering" in fleabay search and you should see examples of both. Remember you can still lift the car when you need to e.g. over high speedbumps etc so that's very handy also!

Yep took around 45 mins. They are just heeld on by a ball joint at each end so just prize
one end off with a screwdriver and then twist off the other end. You need to adjust the length
of the new bars to give the amount of drop you require as per instructions. If I remember
rightly one end you increase the size and the other end of the car you decrease the size
of the link, Can't remember which is which but it says in the instructions. Fronts you can jack
the body slightly and reach above the wheel to replace the links but easier to remove the wheels
at the rear to save crawling under the car.

I've just ordered some 10mm Ball Socket joints and a length of M6 bar - making my own and comes to the grand total of under £20! Granted I will have to pop one end off to adjust the length as both ends are normal thread but thats not difficult.
