Hi all

Looked at a W124 estate today and I'm quite keen on it. One minor irritant is that there's no stereo. I'm not too bothered about that as I never listen to it anyway - but I ABSOLUTELY HATE having a hole in the centre console with wires hanging out. Don't want to fit some cheap nasty-looking stereo just to fill the space either.

Is there some sort of a blanking plate available?

Failing that - anyone got a non-working original-fit stereo for a 1989 W124?

I'd just get a cheap but half-decent CD player like a Pioneer off ebay, they're not too flashy and at least you'd have the option of listening to something if you want. I don't know if there was a blanking plate for the 124, I've never seen one and to get one from MB would be a lot more than a radio I expect.

I've never seen a W124 without a radio/cassette so I'm pretty sure there isn't an of the peg answer.

Cover - Aperture for Radio.

£5.18 including VAT from your local dealer; will probably take 5 days to come in from Germany.

Either put an original Becker/Mercedes wireless in there (very expensive) or put the cover on. No vulgar modern obscenities.

Just last weekend I had a clearout and threw out the broken original radio cassette player from my old W124. Bugger. It looked fine, but just didn't work. D'oh!

Ah well wrong again,it's probably rarer than a Becker of original spec!
