Hello,

have been looking a these along with bmw e46 M3 for the past couple of months....seem excellent value for what they are....would be used mostly at weekends no more than 4-5000 miles a year.....any horror stories or opinions regarding this model that would or should put me off?

Cheers Angus, and it is true I am very happy indeed with it.
Horror stories, not many, PM me and I will share all,oh and I may just be parting with it!
I did a deal with the devil (OH) and bought myself a 70's Aston Martin, the downside is that I now have too many cars and one has to go.
By the process of elimination it had to be the Merc.
We need the Discovery for the winter as our road is not gritted or ploughed in the cold snaps.
The Aston Is the Aston and that is that!
The Fiat 500 is for her pottering around.
The Series Landy has far too much familly history to leave me.
So The Merc is up for sale.
I have replaced all the Airmatic suspension including the compressor. After that there is nothing really to bite you. The engines are bullet proof and it all just works.
Bills are not bad, no worse really than the E320 cdi I had before.
The acceleration is addictive! But the car is never stressed. Easily the best car I have ever owned.

I would not stop you. Having had one of these for week (fours years old at the time) to go to Le Mans in, I can highly recommend. Just about the best all rounder I've ever used (it was an estate).

To run it properly put aside £4k per year for service and tyres and you'll be fine.

How are these once you get north of 100k miles? Do they turn into a money pit or are they pretty solid? I quite like the idea of an e55 wagon as a daily driver but not if they become a pain in the arse.
